Retaining Wall
Retaining walls are mostly done in Radiata ground treated timber and can be constructed using edged half rounds or a heavy T & G usually machined out of 150x50 and 200x50. Although if retaining wall is over 1.5 metre high, a building consent is required and edged half rounds are not allowed to be used so half round are then suitable.

Pergola
A pergola is a great way to create or increase the indoor/outdoor flow of your home. There are many different timber types that can be used and many different looks that can be created. Radiata H4 is recommended if concreting posts into the ground, however, if you have chosen an untreated timber, the posts can be quite easily concreted in using a Bowmac Post Bracket. If you are attaching your pergola to your house, a permit may be required. A range of stain is readily available to put the finishing touches on your pergola while still retaining the natural look of the timber you have used and to provide longer lasting durability.
