Dimensions: Alaskan Cedar is currently available in 45, 50mm thick and 100-300mm wide
Appearance: Heartwood is bright, clear yellow and sapwood is white to yellowish and hard to
distinguish from heartwood. It is light and soft and reasonably stiff and strong. The grain is generally
straight with a fine, even texture.
Uses: Used for interior and exterior finish, furniture, cabinetry, turnery, carving, boat
building (decks, rails, paneling), shingles, cladding, doors, and decorative veneer. Overseas it is also
used in marine piling, posts, engineers' patterns and for battery containers due to high acid resistance.
Tips: Alaskan Yellow Cedar works easily with hand or machine tools and takes a fine finish.
It turns, carves, glues, screws and nails quite well.
